Jennifer Hobbs to leave TGS

Modified: June 29, 2017

Dear Colleagues,
I write to inform you of an impending transition at TGS. Jennifer E. Hobbs, PhD, will be leaving her position as TGS Assistant Dean for Graduate and Postdoctoral Training and Development, effective August 1, 2017, to begin the new role of Chief of Staff and Associate Vice Provost in the Office of the Provost at Emory University.
In her time at TGS, Jen has developed as a strong campus leader, resulting in the increased presence and awareness of the Training Grant Support Office, the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs, and most recently the Office of Graduate and Postdoctoral Professional Development. These offices have grown their capacity and strategic capabilities under Jennifer’s leadership. Jen has been a tireless advocate for postdoctoral fellows and has consistently worked to ensure that the contributions of this population are recognized at Northwestern. She has also worked to promote the support and success of faculty that lead training grants, an effort that is essential to Northwestern’s recognition as a strong research training institution. Jen has been a strong partner to many of you and has represented TGS, graduate students, and postdoctoral fellows in forums and committees on our Evanston and Chicago campuses and with national organizations.

Please join me in wishing Jen the best of luck on her new and exciting journey at Emory.

Dwight A. McBride, PhD
Associate Provost & Dean of The Graduate School
Daniel Hale Williams Professor of African American Studies, English & Performance Studies
