Equity in Graduate Education
The Graduate School and the Office of Institutional Diversity and Inclusion invite graduate faculty and graduate program staff to participate in a series of workshops on equity-minded mentoring that were ddeveloped by the Equity in Graduate Education (EGE) Resource Center.
The EGE workshops will help faculty and graduate program administrators learn how to:
- Enhance their mentorship skills to effectively support students from diverse backgrounds.
- Develop equity-minded mentoring relationships.
- Recognize and facilitate open conversations with students about mental health, wellbeing, and racism.
Faculty participants will develop equity-minded mentoring agreements or compacts as a tool that establishes shared expectations between mentors and mentees. Staff participants will be encouraged to develop a draft agreement that could be used by faculty in their program. These workshops are interactive by design, with activities such as live polling and breakout room discussions. Participants who actively participate in the group activities, complete all three sessions, and submit a mentoring compact are eligible to receive a certificate from The Graduate School.
