ETS Internship, Fellowship and Visiting Scholar Programs in Research
The Educational Testing Service (ETS) Research & Development (R&D) division is pleased to announce that they are now accepting applications for the 2019 Internship and Fellowship Programs in R&D. These programs seek applicants who are interested in pursuing scientific research under the guidance of ETS researchers and psychometricians. Applicants should have a background in at least one of the following research areas:
- career and technical education
- cognitive psychology
- cognitive science
- learning sciences
- linguistics, second language learning and teaching English as a foreign language
- natural language processing and computational linguistics
- noncognitive measures
- process data modeling and analysis
- psychometrics
- speech recognition and processing
- statistics
- teaching and classroom research
- validity and fairness
ETS R&D also welcomes applications from scholars around the world who wish to conduct independent research in a field of interest to ETS and to connect with ETS's community of researchers.
The Summer Internship Program in Research for Graduate Students
This program focuses on major research activities that will occur in 2019. Selected interns conduct research under the guidance of ETS mentors at ETS offices in Princeton, N.J. Graduate students who are currently enrolled in full-time doctoral programs in the areas listed above and who have completed a minimum of two years of coursework toward their doctorate prior to the program start date are eligible to apply.
The Harold Gulliksen Psychometric Research Fellowship Program
This program seeks graduate students who have completed their doctoral coursework and are at the dissertation stage of their program, working on a dissertation related to statistics, psychometrics, educational/psychological measurement or quantitative methods. Selected Fellows study at their universities during the academic year and conduct a research project under the supervision of an academic mentor and in consultation with an ETS researcher or psychometrician. Selected Fellows are required to participate in the ETS Summer Internship Program.
Postdoctoral Fellowship Program
ETS Postdoctoral Fellowships are intended to provide opportunities for early career scholars to work with ETS researchers on a variety of cutting-edge topics including foundational research, as well as research embedded in real world testing programs. Selected fellows work on ETS research projects and conduct independent research that is relevant to ETS's goals under the mentorship of ETS research scientists or psychometricians in Princeton, N.J. All candidates are required to have received their doctorate within the past three years.

The Visiting Research Scholar Program
ETS R&D welcomes applications from scholars around the world who wish to conduct independent research in a field of interest to ETS and to connect with ETS's community of researchers.
The Visiting Research Scholar Program is designed to provide educational and research experience of up to 12 months in length for academicians and researchers who are on sabbatical or other types of leave from their home institutions. The program seeks to achieve a mutually beneficial relationship between the visiting scholar and ETS researchers through intellectual exchange and collaboration in research.
