Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances this event has been cancelled.
- Date: Thursday, April 25
- Time: 7:00 - 8:00 PM
- Location: Norris University Center, Wildcat Room (1999 Campus Drive, Evanston, IL 60208)
Please join the Center for Civic Engagement (CCE) and NU Votes for a panel discussion with US Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi and Illinois State Representative Will Guzzardi focused on issues in higher education at the federal and state level.
Congressman Krishnamoorthi recently introduced the Help Students Vote Act, which would ensure higher ed institutions are fully supporting student voter registration, and is a co-sponsor of the College Transparency Act, which would provide greater access to college graduation rates, loan repayment rates, and job outcomes, while safeguarding student privacy. Representative Guzzardi is a strong advocate for college access and affordability, and recently launched the Tuition-Free Illinois campaign.
Congressman Krishnamoorthi and Representative Guzzardi will be discussing these and other prospective reforms to higher education policy, as well as ways students can be engaged in the policy process. Students will have an opportunity to ask questions at the end of the event.
This event is hosted by Northwestern University’s Center for Civic Engagement and NU Votes, in partnership with Young Invincibles, and co-sponsored by Northwestern University College Democrats and Political Union.
