Diverse Perspectives in STEM: Retention of Underserved Groups in Academia Event on September 12

The Northwestern University Society for the Advancement of Chicanos and Native Americans in Science (NU-SACNAS) and Northwestern University Building on Diversity (NU BonD) will be co-hosting Diverse Perspectives in STEM: Retention of Underserved Groups in Academia on Thursday, September 12.
Join them for a research symposium at 2:00 PM in Pancoe Abbott Auditorium, followed by a panel and small group discussion event at 4:00 PM in TGS Commons.
Panel and group discussions will address retention of underserved and underrepresented groups within STEM, their experiences in academia, and responsibilities for taking on diversity and inclusion initiatives. Panelists include:
- Benjamin Garcia, Professor, Biochemistry and Biophysics, University of Pennsylvania
- Kyle Hernandez, Assistant Professor, Center for Research Informatics, University of Chicago
- Ana Maria Acosta, Associate Professor, Physical Therapy and Human Movement Sciences, Northwestern University
- Lynford Goddard, Professor, Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign
All students, postdocs, and allies are welcome. Food and refreshments will be provided.
